ELIGIBILITY & RECORD REVIEW

HOW CAN WE HELP?

How do I expunge my record in Virginia?
An acquittal, nolle prosequi or qualifying dismissal may provide a path to expungement under Virginia Code § 19.2-392.2. The exact disposition and your history matter. A dismissal does not always mean the public record disappears.

Can I seal a criminal conviction?
Virginia has separate automatic and petition-based sealing procedures. Sections 19.2-392.12 and 19.2-392.12:1 cover different categories of relief. Eligibility can depend on the offense, dates, later convictions and related matters. We review the applicable statute before recommending a petition.

How do I restore my gun rights?
For a person with a felony conviction, Virginia Code § 18.2-308.2(C) generally requires restoration of civil rights before a circuit-court petition. The court decides whether good cause exists. Federal restrictions require a separate review. Sealing a record does not itself establish the right to possess a firearm.
